YSTAD , a seaport of See also:

Sweden on the S. Baltic See also:coast, in the See also:district (ldn) of Malmohus, 39 M. E.S.E. of See also:Malmo by See also:rail. Pop. (1900) 9862. Two of its churches date from the 13th See also:century. Its artificial See also:harbour, which admits vessels See also:drawing 19 ft., is freer from See also:ice in See also:winter than any other See also:Swedish Baltic See also:port. Apart from a growing import See also:trade in See also:coal and machinery,its See also:commerce has declined; but it is among the first twelve manufacturing places in Sweden, having large See also:mechanical workshops.
