AGAPETUS , a See also:

deacon of the See also:church of St See also:Sophia at See also:Constantinople. He presented to the See also:emperor Justinian, on his ac-cession in 527, a See also:work entitled Scheda regia sive de officio regis, which contained See also:advice on the duties of •a See also:Christian See also:prince. The work was often reprinted and is included in Dom See also:Anselme Banduri's Imperium Orientale (See also:Paris, 1711). There is an See also:English See also:translation by See also:Thomas Paynell (155o) and a See also:French -translation, executed in 1612 from a Latin version by See also:Louis XIII., with the assistance of his See also:tutor, See also:David Rivault.
