AGATHO , See also:pope from 678 to 681, was See also:born in See also:Sicily. He is noteworthy as the pope who ordered St See also:Wilfrid to be restored to his bishopric at See also:York in 679, and as the first to cease See also:payment of the See also:tribute hitherto paid on See also:election to the See also:emperor at See also:Constantinople. It was during his pontificate that the 6th See also:oecumenical See also:council was held at Constantinople, to which he sent his legates and those from a See also:Roman council held in 679.
