In 1824-1828 he was See also:professor of See also:mathematics and natural See also:philosophy at See also:Brown University, acting as See also:president in 1826-1827; in 1828-1831 was president of Transylvania University, See also:Lexington, See also:Kentucky; and in 1831-1837 was president of the University of See also:Alabama at See also:Tuscaloosa, where he organized the Alabama See also:Female See also:Athenaeum. After 1839 he lived in See also:Providence, R.I.
