They are trees and shrubs chiefly of temperate climates, and include many See also:common See also:British trees. It comprised the following orders:—Salicaceae, willows and poplars; Corylaceae, See also:hazel, See also:hornbeam; Betulaceae, See also:birch, See also:alder; Fagaceae, See also:oak, See also:beech, , See also:chestnut; Casuarinaceae, .See also:Casuarina (beefwood); Platanaceae, See also:plane; Juglandaceae, See also:walnut; Myricaceae, See also:bog See also:myrtle. This class is not retained in the most See also:modern systems of See also:classification.
