He received instruction from Esalas See also:Vandevelde (1587-1630), and distinguished himself particularly in landscape and See also:animal See also:painting, though his See also:historical See also:works and See also:battle pieces are also admired. He travelled much in See also:France and See also:Italy, and modelled his See also:style greatly after Bamboccio (See also:Peter See also:Laer). He was one of the first. Dutch painters who introduced a fresh and clear. manner of painting landscapes in the style of See also:Claude See also:Lorraine, and his example was speedily followed by other artists. Asselijn's pictures were in high estimation at .Amster-See also:dam, and several of them are in the museums of that, See also:city. Twenty-four, painted in Italy, were engraved. ,_.
