town of the Abruzzi, See also:Italy, in the See also:province of See also:Teramo, 6 m. W. of the station of that name on the railway from See also:Ancona to See also:Foggia, and 18 m. due E.S.E. of Teramo, on the site of the See also:ancient See also:Hadria (q.v.). Pop. (1901) 13,448. Its See also:Gothic See also:cathedral (1285–1305) is remarkably See also:fine; and the interior, though spoilt by restoration in 1657, contains some important frescoes of the end of the 15th See also:century by See also:Andrea di See also:Lecce and his pupils. The See also:crypt was originally a cistern of the See also:Roman See also:period.
