BADIUS, JODOCUS or JossE (1462-1535), sometimes called BADIUS AscENSlus from the See also:village of Asche, near See also:Brussels, where he was See also:born, an eminent printer at See also:Paris, whose See also:establishment was celebrated under the name of Prelum Ascensianum. He was himself a See also:scholar of considerable repute, had studied at Brussels and See also:Ferrara, and before settling in Paris, had taught See also:Greek for several years at See also:Lyons. He illustrated with notes several of the See also:classics which he printed, and was the author of numerous pieces, amongst which are a See also:life of See also:Thomas a Kempis, and a See also:satire on the follies of See also:women, entitled Navicula Stultarum Mulierum.
