BHERA , a See also:

town of See also:British See also:India, in the See also:Shahpur See also:district of the See also:Punjab, situated on the See also:river See also:Jhelum. Pop. (1901) 18,680. It is the See also:terminus of a See also:branch of the See also:North-Western railway. It is an important centre of See also:trade, with manufactures of See also:cotton goods, See also:metal-See also:work, See also:carving, &c. Bhera was founded about 1540 on its See also:present site, but it took the See also:place of a See also:city on the opposite See also:bank of the river, of far greater antiquity, which was destroyed at this See also:period.
