BHOPAL AGENCY , an administrative See also:section of central See also:India, takes its name from the See also:state of Bhopal, which is included in it. The Bhopal agency is administered by the See also:agent to the See also:governor-See also:general in central India. Its See also:area is 11,653 sq. m., and its See also:population in 1901 was 1,157,697. It was created in 1818. In 1900 this See also:district suffered severely from See also:famine owing to the See also:complete failure of the See also:monsoon, and the cultivated area decreased by 50 or 6o %; but, on the whole, See also:trade has improved of See also:late years owing to the new See also:railways, which have stimulated See also:commerce and created fresh centres of See also:industry.
