BORISOGLYEBSK , a See also:town of See also:Russia, in the See also:government of See also:Tambov, too m. S.S.E. of the See also:city of that name, in 51° 22' N. See also:lat. and 430 4' E. See also:long. It was founded in 1646 to defend the See also:southern frontiers of Muscovy against the See also:Crimean See also:Tatars, and in 1696 was surrounded by wooden fortifications. The See also:principal See also:industries are the preparation of See also:wool, See also:iron-casting, See also:soap-boiling, See also:tallow-melting, and See also:brick-making; and there is an active See also:trade in See also:grain, wool, See also:cattle, and See also:leather, and two important See also:annual fairs.
