BUZEU , the See also:

Pop. (1900) 21,561. Buzeu is important as a See also:market for See also:petroleum, See also:timber and See also:grain. It is the See also:meeting- See also:place of railroads from Ramnicu Sarat, See also:Braila and See also:Ploesci. See also:Amber is found by the See also:riverside, and there are See also:cloth-See also:mills in the See also:city. Buzeu is the seat of a See also:bishop, whose See also:cathedral was erected in 164o by See also:Prince See also:Matthias See also:Bassarab of Walachia, on the site of an older See also:church. In the neighbourhood there are many monasteries. Buzeu was formerly called Napuca or Buzograd.
