general in the 4th See also:century B.C. For many years, as prostates, he supported Spartan interests at See also:Athens. On See also:account of the refusal of the Thebans to surrender See also:Oropus, which on his See also:advice they had been allowed to occupy temporarily, Callistratus, despite his magnificent See also:defence (which so impressed See also:Demosthenes that he resolved to study See also:oratory), was condemned to See also:death, 361 B.C. He fled to Methone in See also:Macedonia, and on his return to Athens in 355 he was executed. See See also:Xenophon, Hellenica, iii. 3, vi. 2; See also:Lycurgus, In Leocr. 93.
