CARORA , an inland See also:

town of the See also:state of See also:Lara, See also:Venezuela, on the Carora, a See also:branch of the Tocuyo See also:river, about 54 M. W. by S. of the See also:city of See also:Barquisimeto, and 1128 ft. above See also:sea-level. Pop. (1908 estimate) 6000. The town is comparatively well-built and possesses a See also:fine See also:parish See also:church, and a Franciscan See also:convent and hermitage. It was founded in 1754, and its colonial See also:history shows considerable prosperity, its See also:population at that See also:time numbering 9000 to 1o,000. The neighbouring See also:country is devoted principally to raising horses, mules and See also:cattle; and in addition to hides and See also:leather, it exports See also:rubber and other See also:forest products.
