GABLETS (diminutive of "gable") , in See also:architecture, triangular terminations to buttresses, much in use in the See also:Early See also:English and Decorated periods, after which the buttresses generally terminated in pinnacles. The Early English gablets are generally See also:plain, and very See also:sharp in See also:pitch. In the Decorated See also:period they are often enriched with panelling and crockets. They are sometimes finished with small crosses, but of tener with finials.
