He was assistant See also:professor at the See also:Sorbonne, and in 1852 he became secretary to the See also:faculty of literature. He wrote a Histoire de l'eloquence politique et religieuse en See also:France aux XI I T% X V e, et X VI a siecles(1837-1838); an admirable Histoire de la litterature francaise depuis See also:les origines jusqu'd la Revolution (1852), which he supplemented in 1859 by a See also:volume bringing down the See also:history to the See also:close of the revolutionary See also:period; and some See also:miscellaneous See also:works. Geruzez died on the 29th of May 1865 in See also:Paris. A See also:posthumous volume of Melanges et pensees appeared in 1877.
