GHAZIABAD , a See also:

town of See also:British See also:India in See also:Meerut See also:district of the See also:United Provinces, 12 M. from See also:Delhi and 28 m. from Meerut. Pop. (1901) 11,275. The town was founded in 1740 by See also:Ghazi-uddin, son of Azaf Jah, first See also:nizam of the See also:Deccan, and takes its name from its founder. It has considerably risen in importance as the point of junction of the See also:East See also:Indian, the See also:North-Western and the Oudh & See also:Rohilkhand railway systems. The town has a See also:trade in See also:grain and hides.
