His sportive mythological landscape pieces, with such titles as " Feast of See also:Pan " and "Feast of Bacchus," opened the See also:Academy of See also:Painting at See also:Paris to him in 1715; and he then adapted his See also:art to the fashionable tastes of the See also:day, and introduced the decorative fetes champeetres, in which he was afterwards surpassed by his pupils. He was also closely connected with the See also:opera and See also:theatre as a designer of scenery and costumes.
