See also:east of the town is an excellent anchorage, in some measure sheltered by the See also:island of See also:Piram, which lies still farther east. The natives of this See also:place are reckoned the best sailors in India; and See also:ships touching here may procure See also:water and supplies, or repair See also:damages. The anchorage is a safe See also:refuge during the See also:south-See also:west See also:monsoon, the bottom being a See also:bed of mud and the water always smooth. Gogo has lost its commercial importance and has steadily declined in See also:population and See also:trade since the See also:time of the See also:American See also:Civil See also:War, when it was an important See also:cotton-mart.
