GRAVINA , a See also:town and episcopal see of See also:Apulia, See also:Italy, in the See also:province of See also:Bari, from which it is 63 m. S.W. by See also:rail (29 M. See also:direct), 1148 ft. above See also:sea-level. Pop. (1901) 18,197. The town is probably of See also:medieval origin,. though some conjecture that it occupies the site of the See also:ancient See also:Blera, a See also:post station on the Via See also:Appia. The See also:cathedral is a See also:basilica of the 15th See also:century.
