HIRSON , a See also:town of See also:northern See also:France in the See also:department of See also:Aisne, 35 in. by See also:rail N.E. of See also:Laon, on the See also:Oise. Pop. (1906) 8335. It occupies an important strategic position See also:close to the point of intersection of several railway lines, and not far from the Belgian frontier. For its See also:defence there are a permanent fort and two batteries, near the railway junction. The town carries on the manufacture of See also:glass bottles, tiles, See also:iron and See also:tin goods, See also:wool-See also:spinning and See also:brewing.
