HUBLI , a See also:town of See also:British See also:India, in the See also:Dharwar See also:district of Bombay, 15 M. S.E. of Dharwar town. Pop. (1901) 60,214. It is a railway junction on the See also:Southern Mahratta See also:system, where the lines to See also:Bangalore and See also:Bezwada See also:branch off See also:south and See also:west. It is an important centre of See also:trade and of See also:cotton and See also:silk See also:weaving, and has two cotton See also:mills and several factories for ginning and pressing cotton. Hubli was in See also:early times the seat of an See also:English factory, which, with the See also:rest of the town, was plundered in 1673 by See also:Sivaji, the Mahratta See also:leader.
