ILLAWARRA , a beautiful and fertile See also:

district of New See also:South See also:Wales, See also:Australia, extending from a point 33 M. S. of See also:Sydney, along the See also:coast southwards for 40 M. to Shoalhaven. It is thickly populated, and supplies Sydney with the greater See also:part See also:Redon, See also:Vitre, See also:Dol, See also:Dinard and See also:Cancale are the towns of See also:chief importance and are separately noticed. At Combourg there is a picturesque See also:chateau of the 14th and 15th centuries where See also:Chateaubriand passed a portion of his See also:early See also:life. St See also:Aubin-du-Cormier has the ruins of an important feudal fortress of the 13th See also:century built by the See also:dukes of See also:Brittany for the See also:protection of their eastern frontier. Montfortsur-Meu has a cylindrical keep of the 15th century which is a survival of its old ramparts.
