KEONTHAL , a See also:

petty See also:hill See also:state in the See also:Punjab, See also:India, with an See also:area of 116 sq. m.; pop. (19c1), 22,499; estimated See also:revenue, £4400. The See also:chief, a See also:Rajput, received the See also:title of See also:raja in 1857. After the See also:Gurkha See also:War in 1815, a portion of Keonthal, which had been occupied by the Gurkhas, was sold to the maharaja of See also:Patiala, the See also:remainder being restored to its hereditary chief. In 1823 the See also:district of Punar was added to the Keonthal state. The raja exercises rights of lordship over the petty states of Kothi, Theog, Madhan and Ratesh.
