KHAR , a small but very fertile See also:

province of See also:Persia, known by the ancients as Choara and Choarene; pop. about 10,000. The See also:governor of the province resides at Kishlak Khar, a large See also:village situated 62 m. S.E. of See also:Teheran, or at Aradan, a village 10 m. farther E. The province has an abundant See also:water-See also:supply from the Hableh-rud, and produces See also:great quantities of See also:wheat, See also:barley and See also:rice. Of the £6000 which it pays to the See also:state, more than £4000 is paid in See also:kind—wheat, barley, See also:straw and rice.
