KUTTALAM, or COURTALLUM , a See also:sanatorium of See also:southern See also:India, in the See also:Tinnevelly See also:district of See also:Madras; pop. (19o1), 1197. Though situated only 450 ft. above See also:sea-level, it possesses the See also:climate of a much higher See also:elevation, owing to the breezes that reach it through a See also:gap in the See also:Ghats. It has See also:long been a favourite resort for See also:European visitors, the See also:season lasting from See also:July to See also:September; and it has recently been made more accessible by the opening of the railway from Tinnevelly into See also:Travancore. The scenery is most picturesque, including a famous See also:waterfall.
