LOWENBERG , a See also:

town of See also:Germany, in the Prussian See also:province of See also:Silesia, on the See also:Bober, 39 M. E. of See also:Gorlitz by See also:rail. Pop. 5682. It is one of the See also:oldest towns in Silesia; its town See also:hall See also:dates from the 16th See also:century, and it has a See also:Roman See also:Catholic See also:church built in the 13th century and restored in 1862. The town has See also:sandstone and See also:gypsum quarries, breweries and woollen See also:mills, and cultivates See also:fruit and vegetables. Lowenberg became a town in 1217 and has been the See also:scene of much fighting, especially during the See also:Napoleonic See also:wars. Near the town is the See also:village and See also:estate of Hohlstein, the See also:property of the See also:Hohenzollern See also:family.
