It was visited both by Latins and Sabines even in the See also:time of Tullus Hostilius and was plundered by See also:Hannibal in 211 B.C. It was undoubtedly in the territory of See also:Capena (q.v.); but in imperial times it became an See also:independent community receiving a See also:colony of Octavian's veterans (Colonia Iulia See also:felix Lucoferensis) and possessing an See also:amphitheatre.
