The railway from See also:Durban to See also:Johannesburg skirts the See also:base of the mountain. During the See also:Boer See also:War of 188o-81 Majuba was occupied on the See also:night of the 26th of See also:February 1881 by some 600 See also:British troops under See also:Sir See also:George See also:Pomeroy See also:Colley. On the following morriing the hill was stormed by the Boers under Piet See also:Joubert and the British routed, Colley being among the slain.
