MALOLOS , a See also:

town and the See also:capital of the See also:province of BulacLn, See also:island of Luzon, Philippine Islands, on a See also:branch of the Pampanga Grande See also:river. Pop. (1903), after the See also:annexation of Barasoain and See also:Santa See also:Isabel, 27,025. There are See also:thirty-eight villages, or barrios, of which eight had, in 1903,1000 inhabitants or more. The See also:principal See also:language is Tagalog, but See also:Spanish is spoken to some extent. Malolos is served by the See also:Manila & See also:Dagupan railway, and is a See also:trade centre of considerable importance. The cultivation of See also:rice is an important See also:industry. In 1898-99, during the Filipino revolt, Malolos was the seat of the See also:rebel See also:government, but it was captured and reduced to desolation in See also:March 1899. In 1904 a new municipal school See also:building, a municipal See also:market and a provincial building were erected.
