MARY See also:SETON , one of the " Four Maries " attendant on the See also:queen, is supposed to have been the 5th See also:Lord Seton's See also:half-See also:sister, being the daughter of the 4th lord by his second wife, a See also:French-woman named Mary Pieris, maid of See also:honour to Mary of See also:Guise. She had been educated with Queen Mary in See also:France, being about a See also:year older than her See also:mistress, with whom she returned to See also:Scotland in 1561. She helped Mary to See also:escape from Lochleven by assuming her clothes. Later on she joined her at See also:Carlisle, and remained with her in her various prisons until 1583, when See also:prison See also:life had undermined her See also:health and See also:spirits. She retired to the See also:abbey of St See also:Pierre at See also:Reims, and she was still living there, an old See also:lady of seventy-four, in poverty in 1614.
