He had a See also:long provincial experience as actor and manager. His first London See also:appearance was in 1790 at Covent See also:Garden, where he practically remained until 1811, becoming the leading comedian of his See also:day. In 1813 he was at See also:Drury See also:Lane. He retired in 1824, and died on the 6th of See also:February 1832.
