NARDI, JACOPO (b. 1476) , Florentine historian, occupied various positions in the service of the Florentine See also:republic after the See also:expulsion of the See also:Medici in 1494, and even on their return in 1512 he continued in the public service. In 1527 he joined in the See also:movement for the expulsion of the See also:family and was instrumental in defeating the Medicean troops under See also:Cardinal Passerini, who were attacking the Palazzo della. Signoria. When the Medici again definitely became masters of See also:Florence in 1530, Nardi was exiled from the See also:city and his See also:property confiscated. 1;3e spent the See also:rest of his days in various parts of See also:Italy, chiefly in See also:Venice, and wrote a statement of the claims of the Florentine exiles against the Medici, addressed to the See also:emperor See also:Charles V. The exact date of his See also:death is unknown. His See also:chief See also:work is his Istorie della See also:Cilia di Firenze, covering the See also:period from 1498 to 1538, in See also:part based on Biagio Buonaccorsi's Diario. L. Arbib's edition of Nardi's See also:history (Florence, 1842) contains a See also:biography of the author, and so does that of Agenore Gelli (Florence, 1888).
