English See also:family, derived from Pelham in See also:Hertfordshire, which was owned by a certain See also:Walter de Pelham under See also:Edward I., and is alleged to have been in the See also:possession of the same family before the See also:Norman See also:conquest. The family dignities included the See also:barony of Pelham of Laughton (1706-1768), the earldom of See also:Clare (1714-1768), the dukedom of See also:Newcastle (1715-1768), the barony of Pelham of Stanmer from1762, the earldom of See also:Chichester from 18oi and the earldom of Yarborough from 1837.
