PRZHEVALSK , formerly Karakol (renamed in 1889), a See also:

town of See also:Russian See also:Turkestan, in the See also:province of See also:Semiryechensk, 8 m. S.E. of See also:Lake Issyk-kul. Nikolai Przhevalsky (Przevalsky q.v.), the Russian explorer in Central See also:Asia, died here in 1889, and a See also:monument has been erected to his memory. It is a growing town, and had in 1897 a See also:population of 7985.
