He practised See also:law in See also:Boston, and served in the See also:Massachusetts See also:House of Representatives in 1882-1884 as a Republican. In 1892 he was elected See also:lieutenant-See also:governor (re-elected 1893 and 1895), and in 1896 became acting-governor upon the See also:death (5th See also:March) of Governor See also:Frederick T. Greenhalge. He was elected governor in 1896 and served until 1900. He died on the 21st of See also:December 19or.
