SAVAH , a small See also:province of central See also:Persia, See also:north of See also:Irak and See also:south-See also:west of See also:Teheran, comprising the districts of Savah, Khalejistan (inhabited by the See also:Turkish Khalej tribe), Zerend and Karaghan. It pays a yearly See also:revenue of about £5000. The See also:capital is the See also:ancient See also:city of Savah, which has a See also:population of about 7000, and is 72 M. S.W. of Teheran, at an See also:elevation of 3380 ft., in 350 4' N., 5o° 30' E. The See also:soil is very fertile, is well watered, and produces much See also:wheat, See also:barley and See also:rice. It is occasionally joined to the province of Teheran to facilitate the See also:governor's arrangements for supplying the capital of Persia with See also:grain.
