SEMIPALATINSK , a See also:

town of See also:Asiatic See also:Russia, See also:capital of the See also:province of the same name, on the right See also:bank of the Irtysh, and on the See also:highway from See also:Dzungaria to See also:Omsk, 683 m. by See also:river S.E. of the latter. Pop. (1881) 17,820, (1897) 26,353. It carries on a considerable See also:trade, especially with the See also:Kirghiz, and has a See also:flour-See also:mill, distillery and tanneries. Steamers ply on the Irtysh down w Omsk and up to See also:Lake See also:Zaisan.
