It is of high antiquity, occupying the site of a See also:Roman-See also:British See also:village or fort; and there are picturesque ruins of an See also:ancient See also:castle erected in de-fence of the Welsh See also:marches, and as such, a See also:scene of frequent strife from See also:Norman times until the days of the warlike See also:Owen See also:Glendower, about 1400.
