N.N.W. of See also:Aubenas, with which it communicates by See also:tramway. Pop. (1906) See also:town, 2694; See also:commune, 4352. Vals is situated on the Volane amongst volcanic mountains. It is celebrated for its numerous See also:cold See also:mineral springs impregnated in most cases with bicarbonate of soda. They are used chiefly for drinking but also as See also:baths, and are efficacious in maladies of the digestion, See also:liver and kidneys, and for See also:gravel and See also:gout. Seven or eight million bottles annually are exported. See also:Wood-turning and See also:silk-milling are carried on.
