He was sent to See also:schools in Normady and See also:Southampton, and completed his See also:education at See also:Pembroke See also:College, See also:Oxford. In 1777 he took orders, and in 1781 became See also:head See also:master of See also:Reading See also:grammar school, a See also:post which he held for fifty years. He was the author of See also:Greek and Latin grammars which enjoyed a large circulation. He died in See also:London on the 28th of See also:March 1836. His second son, See also:ABRAHAM See also:JOHN VALPY (1787-18i4), I1 printer and publisher, is remembered in connexion with two See also:great undertakings in the See also:department of classical literature. These were reissues of (r) Stephanus's Greek See also:Thesaurus, for which E. H. See also:Barker was chiefly responsible; (2) the Delphin See also:Classics in 143 volumes with variorum notes, under the editorial superintendence of See also:George See also:Dyer. He also founded the Classical See also:Journal in 1810.
