parliament in 1829 as member for See also:Newark, and devoted his efforts to questions of social reform. He took a leading See also:part in the agitation for the prevention of See also:child labour in factories—he was chairman of, the See also:committee appointed to inquire into the subject. He contested See also:Leeds after the Reform See also:Bill of 1832 (See also:Aldborough, for which he had sat after Newark, being deprived of its member), but was defeated by See also:Macaulay. In 1834 he was unsuccessful at See also:Huddersfield, and failing See also:health prevented any further attempts to re-enter parliament. He settled down in See also:Belfast, where his See also:firm had business interests, and died at New See also:Lodge on the 29th of See also:July 1835. See R. B.
