It is served by the Michigan Central and the See also:Lake See also:Shore & Michigan See also:Southern See also:railways, and is the seat of the Michigan See also:State Normal See also:College (1849). There are various manufactures. Ypsilanti was laid out and named in See also:honour of See also:Demetrius Ypsilanti, the See also:Greek patriot, in 1825; it was incorporated as a See also:village in 1832, and chartered as a city in 1858.
