It is remarkable chiefly for its See also:fine Halles or See also:cloth See also:market, with a See also:facade of over 150 yds. in length. The See also:main See also:building was begun in 1201 and completed in 1304. The See also:cathedral of St See also: Although Ypres is unlikely to regain the importance it possessed when its " red-coated " contingent turned the See also:day in the See also:great See also:battle of Courtrai (1302), it has an important See also:linen and See also:lace See also:trade and a great See also:butter market.
