ABAKANSK , a fortified See also:

town of See also:Siberia, in the See also:Russian See also:government of See also:Yeniseisk, on the See also:river See also:Yenisei, 144 M. S.S.W. of See also:Krasnoyarsk, in See also:lat. 54°2o' N., See also:long. 91°4o' E. This is considered the mildest and most salubrious See also:place in Siberia, and is remark-able for certain tumuli (of the Li Kitai) and statues of men from seven to nine feet high, covered with See also:hieroglyphics. See also:Peter the See also:Great had a fort built here in 1707. Pop. 2000.
