ABITIBBI , a See also:

lake and See also:river of See also:Ontario, See also:Canada. The lake, in 490 N., 8o° W., is 6o m. See also:long and studded with islands. It is shallow, and the shores in its vicinity are covered with small See also:timber. It was formerly employed by the See also:Hudson's See also:Bay See also:Company as See also:part of a See also:canoe route to the See also:fur lands of the See also:north. The construction of the See also:Grand See also:Trunk Pacific railway through this See also:district has made it of some importance. Its outlet is Abitibbi river, a rapid stream, which after a course of 200 M. joins the See also:Moose river, flowing into See also:James Bay.
