town of See also:Germany, in the See also:kingdom of See also:Prussia, on the See also:Elbe, 25 M. E. S. E. of See also:Magdeburg, with a See also:branch See also:line to Ci then (8 m.). Pop. (190o) 7358. It has manufactures of See also:cloth, See also:leather, chemicals and See also:optical See also:instruments; large quantities of beetroot See also:sugar are produced in the neighbourhood; and there is a considerable transit See also:trade on the Elbe.
