ALORA , a See also:

town of See also:southern See also:Spain in the See also:province of See also:Malaga; 17 M. W.N.W. of Malaga, on the right See also:bank of the See also:river Guadalhorce, and on the See also:Cordova-Malaga railway. Pop. (190o) 10,525. Alora, which is an See also:ancient and picturesque town, with several Moorish ruins, occupies an outlying See also:hill of the Sierra de Tolox, and overlooks a fertile valley where See also:maize, See also:sugar-See also:cane and date-palms are cultivated. There are hot sulphurous springs in the town, which has also a See also:fine See also:climate; and many of the wealthy families from Malaga reside here in summer. See also:Brandy distilling is, after See also:agriculture, the See also:chief See also:local See also:industry.
