It has several See also:fine public buildings and the streets are lined with avenues of See also:pear trees, while an abundant See also:supply of See also:water, luxuriant orchards, See also:fields and gardens give it the See also:appearance of an See also:oasis in the See also:desert. It is a favourite resort of invalids. The town was founded in 1819, and in its See also:early days was largely resorted to by Griquas and See also:Bechuana for the See also:sale of See also:ivory, skins and See also:cattle.
