BEECHWORTH , a See also:

town of Bogong See also:county, See also:Victoria, See also:Australia, 172 M. by See also:rail N.E. of See also:Melbourne. Pop. (1901) 7359. The town is the centre of the Ovens goldfields, and the See also:district is mainly devoted to See also:mining with both alluvial and See also:reef working, but much of the See also:land is under cultivation, yielding See also:grain and See also:fruit. The See also:water See also:supply is derived from See also:Lake Kerferd in the vicinity, which is a favourite resort of visitors; the scenery near the town, which lies at an See also:elevation of 18o5 ft. among the May See also:Day Hills, being singularly beautiful. The See also:industries of See also:Beech-See also:worth include tanning, ironfounding and See also:coach-See also:building.
